Fashion show a hit for the Easton High School bands

The models looked fabulous, and the musicians will look sharp.

That’s the bottom line of last Saturday evening’s Promenade of Fashion, presented by Fashion for the Arts at Londonderry House. A fashion show spotlighting the vibrant colors and exotic fabrics of India, it was a fundraiser for the Easton High School Band Boosters. Some of the proceeds will be used to buy new uniforms for one or more of the school’s four bands: the Symphonic Band, the Jazz Band, the Marching Band and the High Groove Steelers, the acclaimed steel drum orchestra that performed at the fashion show.

The 2006 Spring Concert will held at the Talbot County Auditorium at Easton High School on May 18th at 7:30 p.m. Easton's Jazz Band, Steel Drum Orchestra, and Concert Band will perform.
Refreshments will be available. Tickets are
available at the door for $3 per person or $5 per family. Senior citizens get in free. All proceeds benefit the Easton High School Band Boosters. The school is expanding its Marching Band program, including a major purchase of new uniforms. All donations are appreciated and Business Boosters are always welcome to help support the program.

Steel meets high style on Saturday May 13, at the Londonderry estate in Easton. "Promenade of Fashion", the theme for this year's Fashion for the Arts event, celebrates the sights and sounds of exotic India. The High Groove Steelers steel drum band will perform during the silent auction, followed by a runway fashion show.

Fashion for the Arts is a non profit agency founded in 2003 by Marc Delpino of M. Randall & Co. in Easton to encourage and enhance artistic opportunities for area youth. To that end, a major fundraiser is undertaken each spring with the proceeds going toward local arts programs.

For 2006, the Easton High School Band Boosters was chosen as the organization that sustains and supports the high school's instrumental music programs.

Tickets are $60, ($35 of that is tax-deductible), available at M. Randall & Co. and Garrett's & Co. in Easton and Chesapeake Trading Company in St. Michaels. For more event information, visit www.fashionforthearts.org.

This year's MUSIC FESTIVALS Band Trip will be to Boston, MA, April 5-9, 2006. This trip promises to be fun for all as our Concert, Jazz, and Steel Drum Bands compete for a spot in theNational Sweepstakes Awards.

High Groove Steelers to Perform

On Friday, February 17th, pans in the kitchen will steam with noodles while pans (another name for steel drums) on stage will be hot with the award‑winning calypso tunes of "The High Groove Steelers" Steel Drum Band, as the Easton High School Bands present their popular Spaghetti Dinner.

Considering the reasonable price of tickets for this evening of all‑you‑can‑eat food and get‑up‑and‑dance entertainment, perhaps we should say "steal" drums!

Still looking for stocking stuffers? You can pick up Band Car Decals, License Plate Frames, and Steel Drum Band CDs at the concert. A great way to support the band!
